A Volta Lecture 2020/21

Sir Roger Penrose, Nobel Laureate in Physics (2020), delivered the 2020/21 A Volta lecture online on 20 January 2022 on 'From Black-Hole Singularities to Cosmic Cosmology'.

M Fraccaro Lecture 2018/19

Harald zur Hausen, Nobel Laureat in Physiology and Medicine (2008), delivered the 2018/19 M Fraccaro lecture on 8 April 2019

Volta Lecture 2016/17

Sir Richard Peto, the 2016/17 Volta Lecturer, discussed on 25th May 2017 how the world can and should halve premature death.

M Fraccaro Lecture 2016/17

Mario Capecchi, 2007 Nobel Laureate for Physiology or Medicine, delivered the 2016/17 M Fraccaro Lecture on 6 April 2017.

RESEARCH ASSESSMENT

A major seminar series on Research Assessment in France, Germany, the UK and Italy took place in College from November 2016 to February 2017.

NORTH WING

The new North Wing, completed in 2013, houses the 78 graduate members of College as well as 5 short term visitors.

F Svelto, Vice Chancellor for Innovation and Technology Transfer, is holding a seminar in College at 2.30 pm on June 12th with several Directors (F La Tour, G Riggi and F Mastromauro) of Astra Zeneca, one of the largest pharmaceutical companies worldwide. The seminar programme can be downloaded here.

The purpose of the seminar is to introduce ES2ROS to the academic community in Pavia (University and research Institutes).ES2ROS (Externally Sponsored Scientific Research Operations System) is a new research scheme launched recently by Astra Zeneca and aimed at strengthening the links and interactions with academic researchers. The scheme is eminently suited for promoting clinical research involving Astra Zeneca discoveries but perhaps will extend to pre-clinical research and this point will most certainly be addressed at the seminar. College students, in particular students of Biology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences and Medicine are strongly advised to participate.
